Prof. Dr. Nikos Lavranos is the owner & founder of NL-Investmentconsulting. He is also a Guest Professor of international investment law at the VUB. Previously, he was the Head of Legal Affairs at Global Investment Protection. He is a highly-experienced negotiator and policy advisor on Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) and expert in European law and public international law. Nikos Lavranos has an outstanding track record in the field of investment protection. Until August 2014, he was the Senior Trade Policy Advisor responsible for BITs and investment issues in the Dutch Foreign Ministry and previously the Ministry of Economic Affairs. In this capacity, he was the Chief Negotiator for the Netherlands and the Representative of the Netherlands in the Trade Policy Committee of the EU and in the Investment Committee of the OECD. Nikos is also the first Secretary-General of the European Federation for Investment Law and Arbitration based in Brussels.
