AIA Conference
Training transformative mediation for current facilitative mediators
Dates: Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 September
Planning:
Date: September 23, 2015
Place: Billiet & Co, Louizalaan 146, 1050 Brussels
Subjects: Is your mediation practice based on the most effective model? After learning the basic principles of mediation and developing your own way of practice, it is highly recommended to asses how effective what you actually do as a mediator, is at helping the parties to resolve the underlying conflict.
The goal of tranformative mediation is to help disputants rebuild relationships damaged by differences. When an ongoing relationship exists between disputants, conflicts and disputes can irreparably harm any existing relationships if not well managed; alternatively, well managed differences will enhance any ongoing relationship. This workshop will help mediators learn how to facilitate a process whereby parties build sturdy relational bridges by telling their stories, tabling their truths, by developing options which settle their specific differences, and by creating boundaries and norms which contribute to a harmonious relationship which meets their common interests. Learners will be motivated to integrate a greater understanding of the behavioral and psychological dynamics which generate relationship-damaging disputes and the remedies and interests which will help re-build those damaged relationships.
FOR WHOM: This course is a unique opportunity to practice the transformative method under the guidance of Marko Irsic, Anna Doyle and others. The three day course is particularly suited to mediators with little or no experience of transformative practice. Participants will gain an understanding of the theory and basic skills necessary for the practice of transformative mediation.
